gday folks

just a querie that how much nutes will 10 trout provide....

reason im asking that i have 10 trout, (due to being a newbie and killing off the first batch and being impatient) ive learnt that now....

my system is 900 ltr approx ft 800 ltr approx gb 600ltr sump chift pist.....

im growing silverbeet in abundant with approx 30 lettuces is this to much plants for fish or is it that my plants will grow slower..

still trying to get my head around this but having fun doing it

I guess if you are finding that 10 Trout are not supplying enough nutrients for your plants you can top them up by adding a bit of seasol to your system.

then im sure if you keep feeding the fish as in (force feeding) what i mean by that is just keep feeding the fish as much as they can eat and watch the levels would be the same....wouldnt it?

surely that my biggest fish by guess would be 25 to 35 cm weight would be again a guess at 250 gram so feeding 25 gram MAX a day would be sufficent for 10 trout...or am i missing something here..

I give my trout as much as they will eat, been doing it since 2007 and it works for me.

No way to know if it's too much plants without knowing how well the plants are doing or what your water tests say.

In general if you have any nitrate, you have enough nutrients for the plants you have.
If you have 0 nitrate and your plants are still doing well, then you still have enough nutrients for your plants and your feed rate is perfectly balanced with your plants.

If you have 0 nitrate and your plants are not growing and the lower leaves are yellowing and dieing, then perhaps you have too many plants or too few fish or you need to feed the fish more if they will eat more or you need a higher quality feed. It's all a balance and if you see signs that it is out of balance, then you make adjustments.

Well, you really could not pin point whether they are okay with the environment just by merely looking at them and how they survive until you get official results from water tests. I have been feeding my trout just enough portions of what they eat and it has been fine by me, at least how I feet it of course.

Nitrates will provide them with enough nutrients for the plants, in general.
