Sea of green was what I was referring to when mentioning AP wouldn't be good indoors. I guess I should have said AP wouldn't be as good at sea of green as hydro would.

Why do you think AP would be no good at SOG? i would think that it would be perfect if you could get a grow bed low enough to the ground. However i wouldn't bother unless i had a very mature system so theres plenty of nutrient to encourage growth.

Considering the heat from the lights being 18/6 (in an optimal grow period) slightly warming the water/rocks in the grow-bed (i mean very slowly) you would think Barra would be a perfect choice for fish too.

Bah, I think the intent of my original post was misinterpreted. It wasn't to imply how bad AP was at anything, but more how perfect it would be for an outdoor grow. It would be amazing...

Indoors would work too, but there are things to consider indoors. Electricity is expensive. Indoors sucks in general, AP or hydro. However if I was going to do it indoors, I would want more control over all the variables, which hydro provides, because I am spending so much on electricity.

I saw a lot of discussion of the pros and cons of marijuana and it's legal status, and very little as far as how well it would do in an AP system or what would be the best way to grow it in one...

It does look like the injection of P and K during the flowering stage is not required although it will increase the yield.

We had some early members on the forum who were experimenting with growing pot in AP. Evidently very successfully.. Look for posts by Aquaddict....

He was from NZ.. Back in the bad old days... :)

Huh, just found this old post from 2007, guess this was shortly before the formation of "another" aquaponics forum..

Quote:
I joined this forum only a few days after it started and the info gained and swapped then was priceless, and I will forever be grateful to Joel, Steve, Aquaaddict, Aquamad, Stu, VB, GD and others for the knowledge gained, but now, I am sorry to say it is mostly rubbish.
Yes we have all put up a few poor quality posts from time to time, but some on the forum have turned it into an art form.
The numbering of posts one does should be stopped.
And the ridiculous rankings, delete them as well.
Unfortunately there are some who think that there is some kind of prize for the most posts, which was evident some weeks ago when someone reached 1000 posts. There was I reckon up to a 100 posts of stupid remarks re the reaching of 1000 posts.
If this forum can’t be cleaned up then I think it might be time for another forum, sorry folks, but this one has reached a very sad state, and it is very sad indeed that such a wonderful resource has been wrecked by a few.
But it can be saved
I hope it can.

I think there were all sorts of "excuses" proferred at the time... about forming another forum...

The reality was... it was going to happen anyway... as a shopfront for those concerned... nothing more. nothing less... other than the excuses...

Funny, people were saying that the forum had almost reached the stage of being useless because of "mindless babble"..

Good to see that not much has changed over the past 5 years, but shock horror, the forum is still going, and some of the members from back then are still around... Even if they did "wreck the forum."

for those wondering what I'm talking about.

EB,
Was there ever an introductory email developed with etiquette, guidelines etc...
I don't recall seeing one, just Faye approving my post and welcoming me to the family! (which was great)

I am guilty of posting seemingly meaningless kudos, asking where they are from etc in addition to asking 'legitimate' system questions...
I know that was an old post/topic but will contribute my $.02 worth...
I enjoy the feel of the forum, the sense of family, the jokes, inside-jokes etc. It is much less sterile and more 'homey' (if that word can apply to a forum). The information is absolutely vital, but the general banter adds to the environment here.

Feel free to move this post as needs dictate.
Thanks for what you all do!
Brian

Hmm, in my location 5 plants are allowed to be home grown. Restriction is that they must not be visible from the street.

But not being particularly interested in using the stuff, my growbeds are veggies only. :)

I am legally allowed to grow 36 and as a knowledgeable cultivator I am forced to test the potential of cannabis in an aquaponic system. ^_^ Not until my system is aged enough though, they can be heavy feeders and grow pretty damn big.

The "War On Drugs" is just another classic reason to keep people poor (taxes) and to reinforce the authoritarian state.

It costs billions of dollars a year in the US and Australia and is the reason for all the drug related violence, crime and deaths.

Prohibition always creates an extremely profitabe product and underground markets run by gangs/mafia. Legalisation would immediately reduce the huge profits to be made across all drug types and totally destroy the underground market.

If your an in America Vote for RON PAUL !

If you are Australia.... any ideas anyone ? :)
