Looking at the sites you cant really afford to have too many not germinate....Here they are running $.08 $.10 per seed. A package of 25 for $2.50. Here being in the US where I would get my seeds from.

What I've done is I will germinate a pack of seeds. Monitor the growth of each seed. A pack of 25 seeds could very well germinate 25 very different plants of the same variety (phenotypes). Take a clipping of each once their size allows for it and then root that cutting mark it and keep it under flourescents. That will keep it in a constant stage of vegitation and prevent it from flowering. Once that clone gets large enough you can cut it back down to size and make numerous exact copies of the plant you decided you liked the most. Also helps with getting a jump start on the growing season and makes great gifts to friends and family.

was a bad year this year as they got Blossom End Rot
We have had problems in the dirt garden so has the inlaws, but I had no problem with it in the AP. Those beef steak tomatoes I wonder if they are the same as what we call Ox hearts, fruit can be large and shaped like a heart. They are very fleshy superb on toast and very few seeds.

I think they are different as we can get Ox Heart seeds as well, as for the Blossom end Rot, the only success I have had this year with Tom's is in a pot with potting mix the garden and ap ones have done nothing except for Roma's are doing Ok in garden
