Yep, you're right - I went and checked it out on the way home from work yesterday. The lakes have a mixture of duckweed and a small-leafed variety of azolla in about a 1:1 ratio.

It's a quiet little are with parking bays. I grabbed a couple of kilos in about 5 minutes and put it in an isolated tank last night. It didn't make the slightest dent in the amount there.

Have put a little bit in with the SP this morning so will find out this arvo whether they ate it. They certainly ate the little bit of duckweed I had accumulated before they came, so I'm particularly interested to see how they go on the small azolla as it also has a good protein content, apparently.

Location details below;

With regard to taking it, to my knowledge it's not a problem. There's no signs, it's not a nature reserve or anything and there was some council workers there doing something and they didn't seem to care.

Yabbies - good question.

Sorry about the street name :oops: I grew up in that area so have always called it garrett road.
Anyway just remember what ever you take will have replaced itself in a day or two. Though it does tend to slow down over the winter months. I've been collecting it from there for several years. :D

Didn't grow up here, but it was certainly called that when I move here, so that's what I still call it.

Good point - a dozen of us going there once a fortnight probably wouldn't make much of an impact.
