I hate pests so much! I spray with dipel, but that only takes out the caterpillar's. I got rid of the aphids with ladybugs. I have earwigs in the dirt garden and spray with pyrethrium, they h. The only thing that's defeating me at the moment is slugs! I have them all over my system, come out from the scoria at night and clean me out... I don't know what to do about them, have googled a bit, but all I find is how to stop them from getting in, not what to do once you're infested :'(

Also, ducks, what do I spray those buggers with! They broke in yesterday and ate all but 2 of my lettuce seedlings!!! :P

Sounds like my Dog ;-)
Being that a thorough beating is probably out of the question, I think OB's suggestion of a stout fence is in order. A bit of concrete reo has served me well.

My youngest grandson is almost 9 months, so I will have to watch him when he starts to walk. The system is too high for him though.

I used to go slug hunting in the dark with a flashlight. If you don't like cutting them up you could have a pot of boiling water and drop them in, wear garden gloves. Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulfate) and caffeine are supposed to be able to do slugs in. How are they for the plants and fish? Caffeine works by speeding up their heart rate fatally. Perhaps it could affect the fish, I doubt it would hurt the plants. MgSO4 might be a fertilizer but would acidify the system.

Slugs don't like the water so a border inside the gb around the edges. Water is at the bottom and if its a fload cycle they get a water slide. Or leave a few beer traps out.
My pet hate is the tiny white moth(think its white fly)
