I put in a muntries plant (native berry)...dried up and died inside two days.

I think the high nutrient levels and frequent watering can definitely kill some plants.

Yes, when it gets cooler then plants do not release as much water vapor to cool themselves.

i wonder if they have temperature regulation? (they're not warm blooded - not even blooded :) )
Maybe transpiration is merely a function of temperature, as long as the stoma are opened wide, the rate of water loss must depend on the temperature (like in evaporation))

Hi Gokul, welcome to the forum.
I think both temperature and humidity control transpiration.
A plant in full sun will drink a lot of water but not take up a lot of nutrients as it`ll be mainly in survival mode.
If the air is too dry the plant can shut down transpiration to reduce water loss.

It all is a matter of experience & experimentation. Type of plant , temperature of water (soil) temperature of air, humidity - is all contributing to the succes (or failure).

Now the cool weather is here i have cut back my timer from 15 min in the hr to 15 min every 2 hrs

Charlie these strawberrys did exelent over 50 fruit on one plant [till i killed them with salt ] growing in scoria [volcanic rock ] watering 3 min every hr
