Their close relationship to the zucchini is revealed in their appearance and taste. This variety can be prepared with the skin on, if young, and is exported mainly by India; but Sicily also has especially long varieties.

Are you sure you should risk it?

' The fruit pulp around the seeds has been used as an emetic and a purgative and sometimes given to horses.'

Although if it's true there's probably an export market to Hollywood

just tasted some raw, pretty tasteless. I'll go with gourd, very little meat after removing the seed pulp and i've had less trouble cutting a pumpkin!

Oh well, what a let down!, i might still grow some if only for a talking piece.

Feel free to post anything elese you find.........except you VB, you dirty dirty boy.

Not sure what you mean. I know Don Burke is an ugly prick - but surely he doesn't warrant such a heavy handed censurship act???

You know what gourds are used for by tribal males in Papua New Guinea...?

http://www.rhymer.net/New%20Folder/gourd1.htm

Most standard sized Aussie "widgets" would be lost in using the one that you posted!

Culture is so interesting.

I have travelled a little, and it very interesting that good manners in one culture is not acceptable in another.

BTW I am not going to try "dressing up" in a butternut or Ironbark pumpkin!

As my daughters would say ....

EEEWWWW! YUK!
