raw beetroot is great. Grate it and use in a salad, or use a peeler.

Beetroot is wonderful in stir fries - put in the leaves as well. I've only grown them in the dirt beds so far. I read somewhere that Boron is important for beets.

Yup that is right, Peter Cundall says so. And I can tell you that boron is available through the fish food as they use the bi-catch of ocean caught fish which includes bone, skin, flesh etc and the ocean is pretty balanced in itself. :)

we harvested our beetroot before i flew out they were the bigest beets i'v seen about 8'' long and we still ate them not woody at all sorry no pics but with a bit of luck the second crop will be ready when i get home in 2 weeks will get pics this time

Yeah i did it by accident. Was giving my birds some "chard" but it was beet leaves. Only reason i found out was because the birds dropped it in the water and it started to leech purple out into the water. I had been baiting mice nearby and when i saw purple water i had a hsm! Thought poison got in the birds water lol

Here is a picture of mine that I forgot about once all the fish came out. That black thing is a 19mm fitting for pump suction. Will cook it for Xmas day.

Yep, roast beetroot for dinner. Serves 4. Have another one next to it not far off the same size.
