That does seem like something 'fun' and interesting to grow though.

I will try drying and flaking. Stuffing into olives or flavoring a jar of garlic cloves sounds like a good use too.
I will have someone point a vidcam at me if I get the courage up to just bite into one. Will post it here. You can get some laughs.
(I will train on Red Savinas first though - I may be out of shape these days! Used to eat Habs fresh all the time.)

It will also be after enough ripen to have a real harvest. May take some down to the Farmers' Market and take some of the more macho yuppies' money for some.

Rick

Well after the first lethal batch of beer, we brewed another with just 1 ghost and 4 orange habaneros. (the beer kit was a 'ghost lager' so it seemed quite fitting) and its really nice although still fairly hot. Other than that i think you mostly grow them because you can, and its funny to watch friends and enemys alike turn red in the face and do that special chilli dance :)

DejaVoodoo has a CO2 instant soda pop kit. I can think of many sweet/hot combinations that'd be yummy with the Ghost, have a LD50 of about three glasses, and sport a catchy/corny name to boot.

I normally dry the chillis then blend them into flakes in my food processor

I think the best thing to do with the super hots would be mix their flakes with a fairly mild flake, gives you little suprises with every bite.

I use to raise "Scotch Bonnet Peppers". I use to think that they were the hottest pepper around. This was in Florida. I'll have try this "Bhut Jolokia". I only raise hot peppers for plant spray mixed with garlic. Best there is to keep the bugs and worms away from your plants. I like peppers in my food but with a Thai wife I am not about to mention a hotter pepper. They believe in setting food on fire all by themselves.

Plant spray is what became of my first chilli harvest of the season. Probably wouldnt bother cultivating jolokias for this purpose as there are plenty of hot chillis that will grow much easier and more prolifically, like most of the habanero family

No I wouldnt get them from there again, Got some indian ones before and they grew and then I found they were scotch bonnets, wasnt very happy about that. Im not overly sure of how they(the plants) are kept separate to get the correct strains breeding true, Ive been told they dont do that.

Last lot I got from wildfire chilli here in Perth, would recommend them.

Chillys will cross breed like rabbits so keeping plants a long way from each other is about the only way to get true seed

I once read an article in a magazine, I believe Organic Gardening, where they were talking about pepper seeds coming true. It was stated that they could cross pollinate as far as 40 miles away. Sounded to me like a long way, but, I have never got pepper seeds to come true yet.

If you have the DIY bug this will tell you haw to make your own soda maker. Also known as things that I did before Aquaponics...
