Very nice. I didn't even see the culprit for a moment, just wondered why the leaf was so thick.

Here is a fascinating critter I found on my dog's side; I am very grateful I did not find it on myself. Very exciting to find something I had only read about! If you are prone to nightmares, DO NOT look up "bot fly larva".

I had to look it up. Found a video of three getting removed. Not something I think I want to go through.

Yes, I also have found the You Tube videos of Bot fly larva- warning not for the faint hearted, however, I found them to be very interesting and was a little squeamish by the end. Quite gross really!

This first picture shows a group of 5 eggs in the middle from which shield bugs emerged a few days ago. They were orange and since then the colour has intensified appearing dark and blackened.
I have been watching these eggs for days now. They went black over a period of time and I was beginning to wonder if it was due to the Bug catcher that they were in (Chamber of Death, some call it.) I took them on holidays with me and watched them daily and was pleased to discover that the black looking eggs had been parasitised by a wasp. The wasp lays an egg in the existing shield bug eggs and the wasp takes over at the expense of the shield bug, don't you just love nature.

This is todays pic and I have returned from holidays. Funny how things change, Joel said- well then you better go and let them be free out amongst the systems. hehe.

When I pull a plant out I usually check the roots for worms and worm eggs. Today I found an unidentified creature's eggs mixed in with the usual worm eggs. Has anyone seen these before?

they are vegetable bugs and are not wanted in your system

They suck they sap out of your plants also known as stinkbugs.... known erradiction of them is grab them with thumb and finger on either side of body(not top and bottom) Like a yabbie.... that way you dont get smelly fingers... Throw onto ground as they think about flying away then stomp...squish... and twist to make sure hehehehe
