What I would really like to know is, what to do with the tomato ROOTS especially in an AP system.

Not really a problem if you keep the tomato growing fast Bill...

I put about 8 tomatoes into a 2 mtr long BYAP grow bed... and still grow other stuff in the bed as well... In fact in this pic... there's another row of 8 tomatoes on the other side of the bed...

You need "indeterminate" tomatoes for this technique Charlie....

Yep. Determinate "Determines" the size the tomato will grow.
Indeterminate = God help you if you have good soil or a good AP system or even a bad AP system.

You gotta post fast when Rupes around.
So how long (in months) will the tomatoes keep growing without clogging the drain system? I guess maybe experience will tell, but I'd hate to have to break out the machette.

This thread should be stickied. It is probably the most informative thread on plants I have seen so far.

It was reading through your thread, Mr. Bill, that I found it. Now you made it so I have to read ALL system threads to find gems like this.

Tis not very pretty, but click here to see my tomato plants growing in dirt, but using the trimming/pruning methods described above.

It will take you to the backyardFARMING side of BYAP.

Should I prune off the damaged limbs? even though they are at the top of the plant?

Killed 4 of those boogers...never knew I could get so angry at insects! :upset:
