So I recently sent some fig cutting from my two trees plus an air layered branch down to Florida for a newly made friend to grow in his back yard. He so very graciously made up a package, which I havent received yet, but come thursday I will need to find homes for it all in my new system. Which actually Im dedicating my small one barrel system to one single banana. I have more barrels for the other banana. As for the cane, dragon fruit, and Yucca Im sure they will be ok in the GBs.

sugar cane
2 bananas (1 orinoco/burro sword sucker, and Manzano pup)
dragon fruit rooted cutting
1 Yucca cassava cutting

Ive found that sugar cane, bananas, and dragon fruit will grow in AP, but as for Yucca cassava I havent found much. Im new to AP and my large system has only been going for a few days. Im hoping my green house will aid in providing a good home for these tropical plants. I know the dragon fruit may grow well but never fruit if the conditions arent right, which is fine. Im happy with just having the plants grow.

Anyone have experience with this plant types? I wasnt expecting any more than just one banana pup, but it seems Ive made a generous friend.

The banana and the sugar cane will take over the entire grow bed unless you stay on top of it. I pulled the sugar cane out because the roots go so crazy my beds would not flow properly any more. Took a lot of work to get them going again. I will never put sugar cane back into my system.

Is this meant for me? If so, no. The sugar cane had the entire bed clogged up. When I cleaned it out the entire bottom of the grow bed was nothing but roots. I could not even save the rocks. Just emptied it and put in new rocks.

They grow just fine in dirt and I don't have to worry about the roots. I plant them near my pond now.
