today I finally found the motivation to pull out a sickly broccoli that was covered in whitefly and mealybugs. I decided to cut the main trunk and found an ant colony in the hollowed trunk!
I had no idea they were there as there were only a few ants wandering on the outside.

goes to show how clever these little buggers are, flooding the growbed would have achieved nothing

sorry I can't see are they small black ants?

or are they termites?

small and black, probably Argentine ants
