Autopot has a shop in Melbourne's Garden World. The owner(inventor) is there I believe.

I started using autopots in one of my systems about 3 or 4 months ago.

Advantages:
0 power required. They are gravity fed.
Less water used (they are enclosed and there is almost no water flow, so little chance for evaporative loss).

Disadvantages:
No water recirculation, so you need to run a seperate biological filter - ideally one that also aerates your water.

I will have to post some pictures of my filter/aerator.

OK - I have posted some photos in my Members System area. (Members Systems->Aeldric's System III)

If anybody wants to experiment with autopots, let me know, I have got to know the inventor pretty well - I might be able to negotiate a discount.

Strawberries require heaps of water & nutrients to grow well, so are well suited to hydroponic growing. I am looking forward to converting mine when I get a system going, as they have done poorly in the melbourne water restrictions.
Some friends are growing some in a horizontal 90mm PVC stormwater pipe with holes cut in the top, on a semi constant drip from their water tank - they are thriving & tasty.
