Seen on the boards here a lot of talk about Maxicrop seaweed extract. Sounded like good stuff, so I googled it and ran into a few different types of maxicrop. Is there one that is preferable?

Maxicrop.. is Maxicrop..... Maxicrop+Iron is a favourite for many... especially those with high pH...which tends to lock out Iron...

There are other seaweed extract products available....

Well there is the Maxicrop seaweed estract that has numbers like (0.1-0-1.0)
Then there is the Maxicrop +Iron
The above two are both liquids and not ORMI listed for Organic production.

There is a Maxicrop Kelp meal product
And I believe there may also be a maxicrop wettable powder type product. Both of those will have more nitrogen in them and should be used more carefully in an aquaponics system since they will contribute to the bio-load as they break down.

Now I don't know if maxicrop has any of the seaweed plus fish products out currently but many seaweed fertilizers also come in a version that is seaweed extract plus fish emulsion and those should not be used in a system with fish in it since they will definitely put a big load on the bio-filter.

When choosing a seaweed product for aquaponics with fish in it, you want something with low or 0 nitrogen-phosphorus and a higher potassium number.
