How will sand do for a constant drip system? I think it would work better for me since it will hold in more water, and allow it to spread, but I am concerned about unforseen issues that may arise and as many know, sand is messy so if this gose bad I would have to tear the grow bed apart and disrupt the cyceling of the pond since my grow beds are the filter. I dont see many people use it so I think there must be something wrong.
I already Have gravel in the beds, but I want to make them deeper than they currently are, if sand will work i will just fill them to the top, but not sure.

Sand is almost impossible to stop getting throughout the rest of the system...
And as you say.. without some sort of "back flushing"... will eventually clog with solids...
