I've grown seed and leaf amaranth (in the soil). Although I am no longer planting the seed amaranth, I will always have it at my place now, it comes up everywhere :lol:. I am pulling them out and feeding to chooks before the seeds mature, so I guess in a few years they'll be gone unless I miss a couple.

I have found that there is some sort of grub which gets into mine very early on (when still a seedling). You can tell because the root is swelled. The grub grows inside the stem as the plant gorws and can get quite big, before I imagine it pupates and turns into some sort of insect. Once gone there is/are big holes in the stem.
