I tossed some in my first AP since it is the fastest-sprouting thing I know, but water level was too high and light too low and it died. So much for my AP bread! I should try again; even a small loaf would be fun. Or cracked and toasted for hot cereal.

I hate that I have to order everything I need :?
Think a local winery might sell something like that?

DDM- You might be able to find Potassium bicarbonate in a store that sells water softeners since I was told it is available for water softeners instead of Sodium bicarbonate.

Hmmm...our local place sells sodium chloride and potassium chloride. Maybe in other places they use bicarbonate.... Anyway, a little chloride shouldn't hurt much and is often good for the fish. You might not want to go 3ppt as I've heard here that it can inhibit uptake of other essential nutrients, but for normal amts it should be great.
