Most of my cloned tomatoes that I grew in pots reached the roof(3mtrs) then back down and up again. When they looked too messy I'd cut them down and let the next clone take its place. In a GB I think allowing the stem to send down more roots would increase the yield . In a commercial system they plant from seed to get a uniform crop. Growing from seed is great to start. But using cutting to continually keep the bulk of the tomatoes going has its advantages. And striking a 30cm branch in 2 weeks is faster than growing from a seed.
