Okay this is on the back of my hydro nutrients. This is ment to cover everything a plant needs. So what has to be added to a system to cover all the bases. And what is safe for the fish. On another thread they had worm juice that goes into the water, what does this add.

Potassium should be released from the bananas which go into the worm farm - basically what the worm farn adds to the system will depend on what you put INTO the worm farm...

Some more foods to add to a worm farm which could release nutrients into the system:

Food which should should have magnesium:
Beans, black
Broccoli
Nuts, peanuts
Okra, frozen
pumpkin and squash
Soy
Spinach
Tofu
Whole grain cereal
Whole grain cereal, cooked
Whole wheat bread

Food which should should have Iron:
Thyme ground
Curry Powder 58mg
Oat & Wheat Bran
Cinnamon ground
Garam Masala
Rosemary
Paprika
Bran Flakes
Bran Wheat
Sesame Seeds
Soya flour
Wheatgerm
Liquorice
Cashew Nuts
Blackcurrants
Figs
Lentils
Apricots
Hazelnuts
Almonds
Soya beans
Malt bread
Wholemeal bread
Red Kidney beans
Watercress

Food which should should have calcium:

Just check that none of the foods you put into your worm farm don't also release oils etc which could be harmful to fish/crustaceans .

That's what I was thinking also .

AM - you are on the right track though when you are talking about plants that can be grown which capture trace elements from the soil. This however really requires one to have excess space to grow these things and soil that is not already devoid of these things. In essence one is using the same priciples as are used in Permaculture with many green manure crops - the ones that are not for nitrogen capture but rather trace elment capture from deep in the soil.

I'll certainly be growing some plants which should have these trace elements, with the view to including them in feed for the fish.

It could be seen as weed tea made from seaweed I guess.

My favourite tea for my dirt plants was always comfrey tea. Great stuff comfrey, but the friggin smell will knock you over.

I did a google on weed tea and got this
Quote:
Cannabis tea (also known as weed tea or pot tea) is an infusion of cannabis--usually the leaves of the plant, in hot water. This method of ingesting cannabis yields low psychoactive effects, as tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary psychoactive agent in cannabis, is not a water-soluble compound.

Seasol not a good drink
Best the answer to this question is left to someone else.

Not really what I was looking for. But I am trying to imagine this affect on fish. Would get them bigger faster. What with all the munchies. :)

Yep, its gonna happen duffy :D

The seasol is added to either the beds, or straight into the fish tank. I add to the tank - just enough to stain the water. Usually whenever I notice a lack of flowers, or fruit not filling out properly.
