Hi guys i have silvers and yabbies in the same FT. Is it normal for the silvers to school and hide at the bottom of the tank and right at the back (where there is less sun)? The tank temp is about 21 degrees. It seems most of the yabbies are there too and i dont want the silvers to be eaten by them ![]() I normally thought the fish would stay off the bottom of the tank to avoid the yabbies?

Sounds like normal SP behaviour If you are concerned about possible "death by yabbie" incidents, you could manufacture a false bottom for your tank out of some mesh. Keep the combatants separated by a physical barrier |

How long have the fish been in the tank? Silvers are skittish and will head for the shade and more so when they are new to a tank. How big are the fish and the yabbies cause the yappies will have a snap at a passing fish if its small enough. I have a one eyed silver perch to prove it |

Silvers are about 7-8cm long and most yabbies are about that size too but 3-4 are 10cm yabbies. How do i go about feeding them if they stay in the back of the tank where i cant access

Yes, the P word. Stop spooking them out. Throw food into the tank from a distance and don't put your head over the tank to see the action. Watch from a distance. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk |
