A friend of mine had a goldfish in a bowl that was already quite old when it got a swim bladder problem. The poor fish was always floating on the surface, but lived for another 5 years until it finally died... |

I have salted and separated from rest of fish. Havefed fish brine shrimp and hope it has a good poo because they recon it is due to constipation!!! |

My little goldy seems happy but is in an aerated bucket and loves to swim anticlockwise. She/ he holds itself up against the sides of the bucket |

Peas...... Give them blanched peas or thaw frozen peas as they need the fibre seeing as though their intestine get bang up.... |

The fiber in the peas should help. You can also try throwing in some lettuce if it doesn't eat the peas. I have one fish in a quarantine tank with the same problem....it's been in there for 6 months and it's slowly getting better. I'm getting sick of caring for it and it's going back in with his friends soon! |

Thanks for the advice guys. My little goldie that I called Scolly because it looked like it had scoliosis of the spine, survived the swim bladder problem with peas and brine shrimp and isolation. I put it back in with the others 2 weeks ago and all went well. Checked system at 0645 this morning and my little Scolly was floating on side with both eyes eaten out and sides being eaten. Worst of all it was still breathing. I had to euthanaise it .. I have an evil looking black feeder fish that I call Orca because it surfaces like a whale and scares the crap out of me or it could have been the three tiny silver perch that havent grown since i got them and they may have preyed on a slow goldie?? |

Another problem arising I think. Now I know that most people probably wonder why someone would worry so much about goldfish. In all fairness, they cycled my system and they where only tiny wee fish aswell so they have come a long way. I noticed 2 white spots on a fat goldie so I immediately isolated her in a bucket, salted and airated. At the end of the day I decided to put her back in system cos thought I maybe going overboard. I watched after I had put her back in and she was being pestered by Orca, a big fat black goldie. Orca was nudging her from behind and pushing her along. I had to remove her as I thought this would stress her out. Any advice, could she be ready to lay eggs? |

have you seen spawning behaviour? I know its the wrong time of year but that sounds to me like spawning behaviour, although there would normaly be more than one male pushing one female. |

Thanks Grunta, thats what I was thinking only because I read something on internet about this behaviour thats why I isolated her. How do I know when to put her back in system. It is quite an obvious nudging and once I had taken her out, Orca never persued any of the others. |

What ever happened re: the white spots? I've got white nspots on 15-20 Goldies i have separated them and was about to introduce them to the local Birds when i found this thread. |
