Post subject:  Crook goldfish,

Okay, having never raised a goldfish before its all new, have the aquaponics system out back and now have a fish tank inside as well. The fish tank inside has a goldfish which is very very lethargic, it hides out of the current doesnt interact with the other fish etc, its tail / back kind of droops badly. Any ideas what to try give him as a pick me up

Here he is down at the back of the tank hiding in the half log

Has it been just placed into a tank not too long ago?? Sometimes they take a few days to recover from being caught and release into a new environment...

Feeding??

Otherwise, in general as per AP, salt is a good tonic or "pick me up"...

Tank is only a week old, fish are less than a week in system, used the pon water all readings are good, hes side floating at the moment so willl see what happens, he still comes out for food but then goes straight back under the log and turns over and floats against the logs inner roof

Well just salt if you have not and hope it gets better... Sometimes shit happens...

I lost two goldfishes over the weekend... I believe it was due to too hot water.... 34degC...
There is not much water volume in my other system hence temperature increases quite quickly...

Also goldfish can get damaged by the crowded tanks at some aquarium shops. If you spend enough time in one you notice the staff net out floaters all the time.

Heh, time is the best thing ou can give any fish. If they dont die overnite, as long as you leave them alone for a week, 99% of the time they will still be alive.

He looks depressed. Maybe he needs some Focusin. (Trivia: What TV show is Focusin from?)

Seriously, Give them some salt. You may want to treat them with Melafix for a few weeks just to make sure they aren't diseased...especially if purchased from a large pet show/Walmart. Keep a very close on one the "sick" once. Any sign of disease, put him in another tank.

Well he died, and the other healthy fish in the top photo died as well, he was swimming slowly yesterday and was a floater this morning and my boggle eyed fish has gone belly up today as well.

All water readings are spot on and perfect, the fish tank is new but the water came out of the back fish tanks the silvers were in, I have 4 goldfish left and two minnows, not happy with this at all
