as for the dead trout....chuck them in the garden....your plants will love you forever

Hi folks, everything has been going well, new pond is still under way... and then... A fish died saturday night (trout) scooped him out, cut him open... nothing out of the ordinary... fish meet bin. then I did a 50% water change (rain water same as i have used from day one) I salted to 2ppt sunday afternoon, dissolved the salt and poured it in as i have done before. today lunch i had a slo-mo trout come swimming past me and bump into the tank side.. not a good look... went to organise fish hoispital and bits ( few hours ) come back.. fish doing the upside down thing in tank... any ideas?... weather change, nothing has been sprayed, same salt i always use, water test being done in a minute as soon as this goes up. had the fish probably 4 months, with no deaths even during the first few days of fingerlings being in new pond etc. hmmm... |

meant to say... aeration is huge in my tank, two GB retuns under water giving a slow whirlpool effect to feed pump in centre and a 36" air stone fed from a 40 ( i think) LPM air pump. |

Bummer whats your water tests is the water clear or is there floating solids if there is solids increase pumping |

righto... dead trout in garden sounds good, although dobermanns with big feet will move bulk dirt very quickly... will the fish harm him if he chows down on it? No floating solids at the top... but if by floating solids it is meant suspended in water then, not really, no more than ever before and less than times when it was at its worst... going to do test on water now... if your dog diggs the fish up...tie it to his collor......a few days of wearing a rotting fish, and he will never do it again  we have done it with our dogs, killing chickens...

Any solids will affect trout i would pump for a few hrs to clean it up |

Amonia a mile to high another water change and slow down on the feeding |

bad, bad.....ammonia is killing you....ROZ and F + F ....is your best bet for advice....good luck....you are going to need it  I have never seen a pH that low

salt straight away to 3 ppt 1 kg per 1000 litres water |
