Has anyone used this type of pool salt:

DIAMOND CRYSTAL POOL SALT 40LB

Here is the description from the website:
Diamond Crystal Premium Pool Salt for electric chlorinator systems is a natural, high purity, additive Free, quick dissolving salt, packaged in an easy open, 2 easy grip handle poly bag. The natural way to chlorinate and keep your pool sparkling clean.

Any comments on whether this is ok to use?
I have looked locally for Sunray pool salt, but can't find it anywhere. Just wondering if this would do the same job.
Sorry in advance if this is a complete newbie question...

Steve

I've been using either Morton Solar water softener salt or Morton Solar pool salt. Solar simply means that the sea water was dried out with wind and sun. So long as it is simply salt crystals that have had no special anti caking additives or pelletizing additives that is the important part.

Should be fine as it is supposedly nearly pure NaCl, with no additives (like anti-caking stuff).

It says it will chlorinate? That may kill beneficial bacteria.

I did a little searching and I think it will chlorinate only when used with an electronic chlorinator... From what I can tell it is over 99% NaCl, without any anti caking agents. Only one way to know for sure. I hope I'm not taking one for the team. I'll let you know. :blackeye:

Food and fish uses pool salt. no problems.

it chlorinates via the electrolysis of the NaCl solution in water, producing NaOH and Cl.

not going to happen unless you pass a current thru it ;)

I use pool salt on occasion too. Though I don't keep my system heavily salted.

Well, a little update here... I put 80 lbs of the above pool salt into a 4000 gallon pond over the weekend. All is well and I can see the koi smiling back at me. :)

I get 7.5kg
