Post subject:  Catarax eyes?

Hi All,

I am new to the members forum. I am excited about my new project but I have a new problem.

I have had my 2 1000L tanks and 2 garden beds for over a month now. I had bought 25 fingerling black bream and 10 marron for each tank.

I have tap water in my tank with sea salt about 1.5 kg in each.

The problem is the larger fish are slower than the other ones and are swimming slower to the surface and not darting away if my hand goes near them.

A few have got white around the eyes like a type of growth. I have isolated them in a more salty polystyrene small 20 L tub with an air pump.

I have a normal backyard courtyard aquaponics system going...plants going fine so Im not sure what is going on with the larger ones? Can anyone help?

Cheers for the forum and in anticipation.

Mostly caused by a low PH of the water. Burns the fishes eyes.

I tried to download the photo but I can't crop it smaller at the moment.

If it is low Ph do you know how to increase it?

Cheers for the info.

use a pH buffer such as seashells or other forms of calcium carbonate.
check your pH is low before adding the buffer though.
