Hi hope someone can give me some ideas on how I can get our Barra eating ... We have three 20cm Barra in 700L tank. They haven't eaten for two weeks now (there were 4 until today). Water temp fluctuates between 21 and 25. Levels are all good I believe but then perhaps someone more experienced may disagree - pH 6.4, Amm 0, Nitrates 80ppm, Nitrites 0. I'm trying to feed them floating pellets 7mm (bought from BYA so I know they are good quality) have even tried the smaller 3 mm. They show interest, come to the surface, nudge it and then swim away. Have been scooping out uneaten food until today. Considering fish aren't a source of ammonia at the moment so have left some food in with the thought that this will help keep the system cycling. We had Barra last year in the same system, fed them the same food and they were voracious feeders and very yummy on the plate. Totally stumped as to why these guys aren't feeding. Fairly certain that they were fed pellets before as when we were there we saw them using them to feed other fish in a tank. Considering rolling the pellets in some of hubby's burly. I've also searched the garden beds for caterpillars but the frogs are doing to good a job lately and haven't left any behind. Has anyone experienced the same issue and found a remedy? It sounds like the water might be getting too cold for them. |
