Hi! I'm looking at setting up an ibc system outdoors with aquarium fish tanks inside to breed aquarium fish.
I am just wondering what the temperature of the water fluctuates between as ideally I need them above 75,
I live in Brisbane Australia and the winters get down to 51.
So the tanks will be inside and the ibc system in a hot house, any comments would be appreciated thanks.
Average temp in my tanks for the rest of the year is generally over 75. I haven't had my tanks through a winter yet...

Thanks guys

Hi Kingnick, and welcome,
I can't really visualise the setup you are intending. Do you mean FTs inside piped to GBs outside?
Anyway, I used to have an outside 2*IBC system in Brissy (The Gap), and in winter my water would get down to 12C. The IBCs were catching the winter sun most of the day. In summer the max water temp I saw was 30C with the IBCs under 50% shade.
Cheers, T

Yes that's right! Ft inside and GB outside,
How did your fish handle 12degrees?
i want to breed aquarium fish and they won't be happy wth 12 degrees...
Do you think having the fish tanks inside will help keep the temperature up? Or is this just a waste of time do you think???

I imagine if the indoor temp is staying higher than the winter outdoor temp then the FT water temp will not drop as much as if the FT was outdoors. But I'm guessing and really have no idea. So would this be like having a FT shed and the GB's outside? I have seen threads with people having that setup.

The fish in the system I referred to were Jade perch and were pretty forgiving of the temp, they just went right off their food so didn't grow over winter. But that's a short season in Bris.

*Broken record.

Grow beds will dissipate any temperature the FT will gain. So no, it won't work.
