I have had 12 of my 75 channel cats die today. I brought a live one to a local fish store and he real doesn't see anything. No ich, no sores, no fungus. Lungs look good. Had him do a water sample and it was similar to mine. Ammonia 0 nitrates 45 pH7.8. all good. I am attaching links to 1 Youtube video that I took of the fish that were actively dying and 1 right after dying. Please give me a clue or too. I may just take the rest out and put them in a 35 gallon food grade bucket I got recently until i can figure it out. I just drained half of the water and added fresh water. Thanks in advance.

It's hard to tell by the video but I don't see a lot of surface agitation/aeration.

Are the surviving fish hanging out near the surface or gasping for air?

I was draining the tanks while filming. I pumped to water using the sub pump so no water was draining from the GB at that time. Lasted about 10-15 min. this morning the rest are dead. I'm going to drain the tank, clean it good and sanitize with bleach and let it sit for a while. Meanwhile, Im going to us a 35 gallon barrel to use as a FT. Ill just use some shiners or goldfish for the mean time. Question is should I remove the plants from growbed and start from scratch?

It was interesting to read another members comments on his fish dying mysteriously.. :-(
at issue was the fact that his pump had developed an electrical leak, with the result of power flowing through the system.. Even if the fish were not "Electrocuted", I could easily imagine it would SERIOUSLY play with their "Lateral Lines " and all that stuff..

Did I read where another member disturbed a GB (Removing unwanted plants) and fish started to die.
There the suggestion was that he disturbed a noxious area of anaerobic muck.. :naughty:

Bottom line - if all looks "Normal" then is likely best to look towards the least obvious..

Interesting. Never considered that as a possibility. I was thinking more of a neurotoxin. Either poison of some type or a neurological disorder. BTW I am at 100% mortality. Im cleaning the tank and going to soak it in bleach to kill everything. I had a guy recommend running the system with aquarium charcoal in a sock. This would absorb any chemicals that may be lingering.

I would think of a cat as similar to a carp/koi with very sensitive lateral lines.. ie designed for detecting prey by electrical detection.. ie.. electricity could be that neurotoxin..

NO idea about other fishes and now a AC field in the water could throw them off, but we know that salmonoids were bowled over by it (unless it was some contamination from the "Leaking" pump.
(The owner got a shock, when sticking his hand in the water... :upset: ..)
