G'Day Gang, Do we have a fish (small and native to Western Australia) that will cohabit with Silvers and eat algae? Or where can I get some glass shrimp? Cheers Dennis |

Cheers Dennis I dont know about natives but I used siamese algae eaters in the aquarium and they did an excellent job. Brought them in the local aquarium shop and they never bothered any other tank inhabitants. For the glass shrimp have you had a trawl through the reeds/weeds/plants at the edges of local creeks or lakes? |

I think silvers would eat glass shrimp. Yabbies would eat it but once again, silvers eat yabby so they would have to be big. |

I have 20 or so yabbies in the tank at the moment but they are not keeping up with the algae. There are no silvers in yet and thought perhaps if I gave the glass shrimp a head start before fingerlings went in it might work out ok. I have a good local waterway close so will have a bit of a poke around. Just have to be a bit careful of the tigers (snakes that is) Cheers Dennis |

Yes, older silver perch will eat algae. They become more herbivorous as they get older apparently |
