Found one of my silver's with fin rot today. Water is 0 ammonia and nitrates. 3 ppt salt. Ph 7.6. Other silver's in system seem fine. This was a bigger silver amongst small ones. Any ideas? I've taken it out of the main tank and put in a hospital tank at7ppt salt. Found the timer had intermittently stopped on this system last week end so could have been low do stress. Second timer to fail in a week:-/ now using digital timers as don't trust mechanical ones. Had 3 fail in a year! ![]() Don't think he'll make it. May put it out of its misery. |

If you can isolate him... yes a salt bath at 10ppt for an hour (well aerated)... and return to 6ppt for 2 weeks... If you can't isolate.. then either salt to 6ppt... (3ppt is just for Ich)... or eat him... |

Banged him on the noggin and Fed him to the compost monster. He fell over soon after isolation. He was moved about 3 week's ago and came from some poorly treated stock that had fin rot about 8 months ago so maybe he was a bit weak? Putting lots of air into the others as a precaution. |
