So I bought a dozen perch from yearling size to about 28cm I think was the largest. They put something (clove oil?) in the water to put them to sleep while I transported them back to Bunbury. 2 never woke up. The rest seemed to be ok apart from one which was swimming g upside down every now and then. The next morning, 3 were laying upside down on the bottom of the tank still alive. I took them out, put them in a bucket with an air pump in but they eventually died. ![]() Looking at the pic, what are the white spots on them and would this be cause of death? I tested my water. Ammonia is 0.5, nitrite and nitrate are 0, ph is 8. Kinda bummed when I spent good money on buying larger fish to have these die. |

How big was your transport container??.. and did you aerate?? At that size.. especially with Silvers, which are prima donnas... you would have had to aerate pretty well... Even more so when they're "euthanased"... How much "clove oil" did they use... were the fish just "lethargic".. or basically floating on their sides.. in the transport container? |

They were transported in a large eski half filled with water and had an aerator attached and running the whole trip. Would have been under 2 hour trip. I'm not sure how much clove oil they put in. I didn't see. Just come back and asked what that smell was. When I got home, they were all upside down. I called them and was told that's fine, put them in your tank and they will wake up. |

No there was only one that size. There were 7 yearlings. As you can see in the pic the small one. There were 5 large and 7 small. Was advised that would be fine by the "professionals" If I was told my esky would only hold 6 that's what I would have got. The esky nearly takes up the whole back seat of my Colorado. |

Why did you get them from Golden Ponds and not Ferguson Springs (troutman)? He is a lot closer to you. |

Fish looked alright in the picture in your thread... certainly appeared to have awaken from any "clove oil"... How much aeration did you have in your tank overnight? |

I just go on what I was told by where I bought them. I wasn't too impressed with the conditions of where they come from to start with. Should have abandoned ship but had paid for them before I was taken to their holding tanks. Let's just say I won't be buying any more from here. As you can see in the pics, their fins are damaged and one that they tried giving me had NO tail at all. When I said I didn't want it, he picked it up and threw it back in the tank. The poor fish couldn't swim. The fish weren't all from the same tank either so maybe the ones that died come from a certain tank? I'm not sure but I am wondering if I call up and ask for a refund for the dead fish!! |

Yea the fish in my other thread are the ones that are still alive now. Ferguson springs website says they only have fingerlings available and I only wanted something to get through to trout time and be able to taste the perch by then. Aeration in my tank is the dual air pump that comes with the entertainer package. |

Is that white on them ich? I haven;t seen it IRL so not sure. Or if that was what killed my 2 fish a while back it was tiny threads of white rather than large patches like these. Or is it a result of the clove oil? |
