Hi All,

I wonder if anybody can offer me advice.

Over the last 3 weeks I have lost 3 of my silver perch from my IBC

Water temp is around 30 deg C
Ph is 7.4
Ammonia is 0.25ppm
Nitrite is 0
Nitrate is 5ppm

A couple of the fish that have died have had some unusual spots on them, but the one today looked normal. All of the other fish are very active.

I have been feeding the 20 Silver Perch (about 12cm) 3 heaped tsp of food per day.

I suspect it may be something to do with the high water temp of the Ph but I dont really have a solution for either.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Your pH should be fine. So should your ammonia level.

Have you got any salt in your system? That should help protect them from any parasites which sounds like what got the first two.

Do you have any pics of the last on to die?

What size tank are you using and is there enough oxygen for that high a water temperature?

Here is a pic of my first fatality the last fatality did not have any obvious markings

It is a 1000l tank with a 300l/hr Air pump (running 24/7) and a 4000l/hr water pump with a head of 1.5m running about 3.5 hours total per day.

I thought that the Ph or temp might be the problem.

How much salt should I add?

Do you think that I should circulate the water a bit more?

@ 30 degrees water temp... I'd be running the pump 30 mins/hour....

As Rupe said till temperature comes down. Is your water into the tank creating enough breakage of the water surface to create extra aeration of the water. Every little bit helps.

Hi Whito
Around 30 C ? So maybe 27 or 33 ? what time a day do you measure the temp.
I took a look at your system, and I'd say that high temp(low DO) is killing them.
You have 12 black small pots without shadeing ? a real efective heat collector you have set up IMO
Also with your intervals in pumping, they get a real heat build up, before you flush the heat in to your fish tank.
Switch to constant flow and get the black pots/pipes and the leca shaded, to get the temp down.
