Post subject:  Should I be worried??? Well I am!!! Help!!!

I have about ten bigger Moz. Tilapia i cought with a gill net on a local dam in my tank and about 50 smaller ones from these ten offspring. The fish stay at the bottom so i don't see them up close very often. I decided to do a little fishing. This problem seems isolated to this bigger one. Looks pretty suspicious to me but I am hoping that it is just a funny scar tissue developement since some from the gill net were kinda beat up originally. Has anyone seen this??? I will salt the water tomorrow but for now, against my wifes wishes I have the affected one in the bathtub.

Thanks

MM

Yeah doesn't look good. Can you get a better photo where the thing is in focus rather than the scales?

Is it something erupting from inside the fish like a volcano worm? Or is it attached to the outside like a barnacle?

My advice is to contact Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley since I am pretty sure she has some experience in dealing with creatures such as that one bursting out of your fish!

Looks like something out of Alien's :shifty: .....

A few of the most beautiful fish I have caught up in the North West, had the most ugliest black oozy sores in there flesh when I filleted them......over the side they went, to shark fodder

Same as scallops, great looking shell, huge meat , and full of worms
