continue with your water changes.. you are on the right track. it just that the bacteria that converts ammonia to nitrites grow faster than the ones that converts nitrites to nitrates. but u still have to feed your fishes a little to prevent your ammonia converters from dying off. but by feeding your fishes your nitrite level will rise. so hence the need for water changes. btw do u have any filtering media attached to your system other than your GB..?

Will it stress the fish out not having food that long?

That fish doesnt look good. Might be time to get rid of them and wait a week or so then get a few more healthy ones but keep the salt up to 3ppt

Hey guys two months later and my new fish are showing signs of the white fungus again. I totally cleaned out my fish tank and sump tank waited two weeks to add new fish. Salted to 3ppt all my tests numbers look good and it came back. I don't know what to do now.

What temperature do you have ?
Did you checked the new fish for parasites ?
We learn to search under microscope for the parasites and quarantine every new fish...

Salt treatment only works if there is "big" jump in the ppt reading. Think of it like us humans. If you are normally taking some control medicine and you get some related illness, you usually need to up the dosage to cure the illness. Hence why once you can see that the fishes have been treated, you drop the salt back to 1ppt. Now you probably need to consider 6ppt to 10ppt salt bath. From memory, it is about 10 minutes salt bath and then back to the 3ppt tank. Search this forum, there should be some clearer direction here.

All my fish are dead. what should I do now? They were covered in the fungus and so wasn't some bits of food that ended up in my solids filter. I can't get the temp up so I think I'm just going to wait to do anything until I can get set up outside. Should I bleach the system now to kill anything in it?

Sorry about the fish. If you have a dirt garden I would dig holes and bury them to decompose. They make good fertilizer at least.
