we have a 10,000lt pond and have filled with rain water. we have good air saturation and have had almost 100% deaths upon introduction the pond? they are Trout and seem to die withing the first 24 hours. we have tried slow introduction over 2 to 3 hours and still they die. They have big tummies when they die - can anyone help us?????

Wow that's quick deaths and welcome to the forum. There must be something very toxic in the water to kill them that fast. Have you done water tests? We're going to need some information about the system to help.

+1 on needing more information.

Sounds like some form of shock. Could be because of a huge difference in the water they come from and the water in your pond. Check pH, Temp, Ammonia, nitrites and anything else you can. How are you transporting them and how long are they in transit?

Is there anything in their stomachs or is something going on with their air bladder?

When they die, are their gills flared wide open?

Sorry for the double post, but what temp is the pond? Might still be too warm for Trout.

What is the water temperature?
How many fish did you put in?
You say pond- what filtration/GBs do you have?
Do you have a galvanised/Zincalume roof for rainwater collection?
