Hi, one of my koi fish has her eyes pop out a bit and I notice that she has a little fat belly. Her stomach is not very fat but it's fatter than my other fish. Even her face too has become a bit fat. I guess either she is pregnant or she has accumulated too much fat or may be she is unwell.

Her eating habits have not changed i.e. she is hungry at all times.

Her swimming style has not changed i.e. she swims as fast as a bullet.

I didn't notice dropsy or laziness in her behavior.

I changed 50% water just to be on safe side.

One of my fish was flashing a few weeks ago so I added Rid All medicine and she stopped flashing. Not sure if i added more medicine and my other fish got eyes pop out due to extra medicine.

What do you suggest?

Might be nothing or could be an infection but check your water quality. Might want to look this over and see if any of this sounds like what your seeing - http://www.fishchannel.com/fish-health/disease-prevention/popeye.aspx

Can you post a pic? that sounds like dropsy sickness that is deadly and highly contagious. You have to grab that fish and quarantine right away, that is bacterial.

I don't know enough to tell you if there is a problem but you may want to isolate this fish, just in case. Here's some info on Dropsy - http://www.fishchannel.com/fish-health/disease-prevention/dreaded-dropsy.aspx

I'd still look at the water quality and possibly their diet, if you're feeding them on commercial feed, they may need more greens like duckweed or shelled peas (my understanding is koi are like goldfish in this respect but I'm not a koi grower).

the pics shows bulging of the belly as well. It would be best to work on quarantine and some water changes. Dropsy is a killer.

Hope everything is alright though.

I added extra medicine a few weeks ago. So all I did was to change water and my Koi became normal in just a week. Even her eyes are no more out. She is looking fine and eating fine. Thank God.
