Hi all, first time posting.

I just got a new batch of Tilapia on Thursday (four days ago). I noticed a few of them didn't seem right, but I figured it was transport stress. They haven't been eating well, and I noticed some funny lesions on several of them, so today I turned off the bubblers and gave them a good inspection. To my horror I found that several had these awful white growths on them.

At first I suspected ich, but upon doing more research I think it might be Saprolegnia. I believe that the fish must have been injured in transport, and the fungus is attaching to the wounds.

I have removed about 10 fish into a 100 gallon hospital tank. I have exchanged the water several times today, and I have added about 7.5 lbs of salt in the 100 gallons of water. I plan to do a water exchange in the morning and then re-salt the hospital tank.

The other 30 fish seem unaffected, but I'm worried that they may develop it also.

Here are my specs:
Number of fish: about 40 3/4 lb tilapia
Tank size: 300 gallons (one of two fish tanks for 600 gallons altogether)
Total water volume: 2500 gallons
Culture: Four 32cu ft grow beds for a total of 128 cu ft of biofilter

Has anyone experienced a Saprolegnia outbreak before? Am I on the right track? Thanks for any advice y'all have!

yikes!
i'm not familiar with this at all.. but what are your water parameters?
i'd probably attempt isolating and salting affected fish to 6ppt, but if that's a sample of how the affected fish look, i'd probably bail on most of them
