Are you human?: On rare occasions

Hi, added 100 Silver perch to our newly cycled system 3days ago, noticed today that a few are flashing. Our tank is 1.8m deep so its a bit hard to see if they have white spots etc. We bought salt, and will salt to 3ppt. Total water volume in system is 5600, so we will add 16.8kg. Question is should we dissolve it in batches and then add to the ft or sump over a few hours or just dump the whole lot in ft?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Dissolve in water and add. Dumping it in tends to leave salt sitting on the bottom to be dissolved over time. Go on eBay and get a meter for salt - costs about AU$12. Once it is dissolved, add it direct. Put it all in a bucket, add warm water and swirl for a while. Pour the water into the FT. Add more water to the bucket, swirl for a while and so on. Eventually all the salt will dissolve and be added.

SP's like warm water so you will not affect them - but don't boil it, OK?

Yep just throw it straight into the tank if you have Silver Perch. With trout you should dissolve it or add it to a sump as if thrown straight into the tank the damn things eat it !!
