May I suggest getting the water tested anyway. I got mine tested because I heard that some enamels have lead in them, got it tested for heavy metals, lead was fine, nickel as bordering on safe drinking levels.

I got mine tested at ecowise (who have a chemical branch and a electrical contractor branch), but they might just be a Canberran company...

At least then you can put to rest any chance that it might be heavy metals.

Oh the other thing is that if you keep your pH above 7, it won't be acidic and therefore won't strip heavy metals from their source. Always an option (albeit a tough one).

The brass was silicone coated so unless some lifted it should be fine.

Gemmell as I have no other problems with PP and the piranhas are still eating and swimming, I am not overly stressed, the good doc agrees that they were probably 2 weaker PP and and were victims of the tank cycling, we have been keeping an eye on all others, if another gets similar trouble may even take up the Doc's offer of supplying her with the dead meat
