You must be doing something else in Buffalo to even think of making these purchases there. It's gotta be close to 90 minutes of driving, plus dealing with customs twice. I used to go across for some groceries and gas, but I gotta think with such a large metro area you've got plenty of options close by.

The BlueGill are eating the same high protine food the talapia are. It is a small pellet and even the real little bluegill can get them down. I do not know the brand off hand...will see if I remember to call the fishery and ask which one they sold me.

Pets and ponds - $10.49

So, at best, I am paying $4.48/oz including tax and shipping in Canada. Do you think that a Feed store in the US can beat that? Feed stores in Ontario do not sell Fish food as Aquaculture and Permaculture is not that prevalent here.

I'm also picking up the materials to make a couple of Bell siphons as they do not stock them here either. I can get bulkheads already assembled here at the low low cost of $11.30 per. I understand that they stock the materials for the same at Lowes for less than $5.

These look like small quantity food retail amounts (something that pet stores would sell). If you want to do aquaculture, you'll need to find a bigger, proper supplier. I know farming isn't very prevalent in Mississaugua, but you've got a couple of towns close by (closer than Buffalo) that would have some farm animal feed type stores that should put you in a better price range. (ex: they should have Purina).

Building materials are more expensive in Canada for whatever reason, but neither of these options is as cheap as uniseals.

Hi all I'm heading to buffalo to purchase the materials to make my bell siphons for my GBs and thought that I would pick up some Starter fish food and regular Fish food for the bigguns. Can anyone recomend a place to check out while I'm there? Thanks in advance, Thefishingangler

Got any feed stores around? I generally go to the purina site and look up dealers in my area, then I call them and see if they would be willing to have a bag of the feed I want put on the next regular order. Which feed you want will depend on the type of fish you are growing. I've been using the Aquamax Dense 4000 It is a good feed for catfish and tilapia. Probably also appropriate for blue gill but I'm not sure. I haven't checked to see about getting large bags this way for the higher protein starter feeds but I expect it could be possible.

For instance, I contacted the closest feed store to me when I was looking for a GB. I was going to get a 300 Gallon Rubbermaid Stock tank http://www.tractorsupply.com/livestock/ ... al-2229935. You can see by the link that they want $209 US. You know how much they wanted here? $350 CAD. I told him straight out how much it cost in the US and he told me that if I could get it for that much, I should. He was half talking about me picking him up one. It takes us 1.5 hours to get to Buffalo and for the savings we always make a little date of it and spend the night in a hotel found cheaply through Priceline. Thanks for the info though.
