I needed to buy more pellets, so bit the bullet and yesterday bought a 25kg sack of Ridleys 4mm Barra Pellets and a 25kg sack of Ridleys 6mm Native Pellets. I will not need all these pellets so am happy to share - at cost price of course - pellets with any other SE Queensland members. Let me know. |

All sorts... heaps of cichlids (africans, tangs, devils, oscar, jags, dovii etc), lots of catfish (hoplo, cuckoo, eupterus, bristlenose, cory, loaches) and a fair wack of oddballs that need own tanks like axo's, lionfish, shrimp etc All very cool but have a fair few fry tanks and ya this is all kinda costing a fair bit of $$ electricity wise to run...... anyway try get some order out of the madness tonite. |

Sorry to go off topic.... Don, who have you gone with breeding the Cuckoo Catfish. I am trying to grow mine up a fair bit. I am power feeding them with a sheet of black plastic over the tank so they are more active all the time. I have to figure out if my Tilapia are going to breed so I can pick out a breeding pair. If I put 1 male Tilapia and 2 Female Tilapia, and 8 unknown sex Multi's in a big tank I think my chances will be good. |

Are the tilapia mouthbrooders? Was thinking I might use blue pindani, peacocks, blue dolphin, crimson dawns, mel.interruptus, electric blue and maybe some fronny.... The cuckoos are easy to sex if they are big enuf to breed, basically the boys have a spike (shark tooth shaped gonopodium) and the girls don't. I avoid aggressive mbuna like fulleborne and zebra that can beat up the cattys, any cichlids that have too small a mouths, too valuable a fry or are from lake tanga and know about the cuckoos tricks! Copradichromis species and victorians seem to work well. |
