Whilst I know the Silver Perch provider said that they don't like clear water, I have noticed that with the food I'm using, the water has taken on a real brown tannin appearance, and whilst the fush might like it, we don't..

Do most foods cause water staining ??? or are some completely neutral..?

fairly normal... I saw the tanks down at golden ponds and when they pump the feed into them the water gets very brown.

I suppose that when you just think about what they try to put in a "Complete Food", then it's to be expected..

I guess that I was hoping that another brand may be less discolouring than mine.. THANKS for the observation..

One interesting issue.... I have been to a number of KOI fush tanks and their water is perfect...
but then, those species are not pushed in growth, and don't get fed anything like our captives that we seek growth and especially nutrients from.. Point of fact, I know that I overfeed my Koi, because I am happy for their left-overs..

Still if there is a sustainable (or better) food that doesn't discolour, then I will be interested...

The skretting feed we used at the shop didn't tend to colour the water much.

and that was likely the next one that I would try, as I am concerned for the sustainability of the food I first bought.. but that will be a long time from now, when the fridge is empty..

I'm probably way ahead of myself, anyway..
