I was told the other day that Lupins are the top feed for yabbies. I have tried to buy them at the local produce agency but so far no luck. Evidently when feed on Lupins the yabbies do not have the tendency to fight and attempt to destroy each other.

lupins are fairly high in protien my pop used to feed his yabbies ( they were in dams) crushed lupins they sure went for it but as the dams were not clear i couldnt say about it preventing any canbalistic tendancys

i do know that they are almost like little fertility pills for sheep, many more twins and triplets in ewes fed lupins, and they were always fatter and full of dirt

Ohh the joys of shearing

Interesting info Josh I have never heard of that. I shall get back to you on that as I am planning on doing a bit of research with different feeds with yabbies.

Fil, in the Homemade homegrown thread on fish food, there is a link on pg 2 from Tim C. It is a comprehensive WA case study on lupins and their dietary value. (Diff types have diff values.) Comprehansive at 100 plus pages but there is a whole section on what is best for crustys.
