About to dive in and purchase my goldfish. Any recommendations for fish food brands? Also, how much food will 150 gold fish go through? How often/how much should they be fed? Should I be purchasing in bulk? And finally, do you use an automatic fish feeder? And if so - any recommendations for one that can supply 150 fish? Any advice and conversation welcome! |

150 goldies? woser, I hope your tank is massive. I use an aquarium fish feeder but I only have 11 gold fish, maybe a koi pond feeder? maybe you need more than one.... |

Try for about 5L of media per goldfish, mine can handle 500ish golddfish. Just make sure it's to your filtration capabilities. With the food, I have no idea what's local, but try for a 30% protein feed, and make sure it's sinking, the floating type will cause digestive issues with the goldies. I'd just do some googling for aquaponic/aquaculture feed. |

If you're set on an automatic feeder, the eheim feeders are fairly reliable. I use the eheim twin feeder. If you're going to use a feeder, set it up to deliver only half the feed - and feed the other half yourself. If you just use the feeder it's easier to miss problems with the fish. |
