Hello all, I am hoping to take veggie scraps from my garden and grind and bake them into flakes. I figure that this would make a reasonable fish food, unless fish need lots of protein. Has anyone ever tried feeding their fish a vegetarian diet from recycled vegetable waste? (Ie. cast offs from peppers, tomatoes, spinach, etc). Thanks! |

I don't have any yet, I'm just building my first AP system. I was going to go with goldfish for simplicity. |

as long as you feed them worms (grind some in too) and other bugs for protien, then that should be fine for goldfish. The thing is though, its all input in and out with these systems, if you want fish growth you need high protien or a lot of nutrient recycling. recycling would mean there isnt much left for you to be able to harvest yourself. Its certainly doable, just dont think you will never need to buy feed. If you never do, you may get it to work, but it will be at slower growth rates, etc. |
