Post subject:  Purchasing bulk fish pellets.

I have up until now used the BYA bags of food, which are excellent but would love to know of any sources of larger quantities to soften the cost a tad. 10kg bays would be excellent. But being a novice I don't want to feed the fish dodgey stuff.

Skretting seem to be available only for way down south, is there a local supplier in the metro area?

Swan Valley has some from a brand called Pondmax that sell in 10kg quantities. http://www.fishandlily.com.au/in_store/ ... nics_food/

Aquatec in Forrestdale stock Aquapro & Pondax in 10-20kg bags.
http://www.aquatecequipment.com/fish-food-c-20_67.html

Have you guys used any of these or recommend another that can be locally sourced.

Not sure how much postage would add but I got 20kg for $80 delivered, (from Qld to Vic) from Big Nutrition

Give them a ring - email seems not to be preferred communication.

AquaPro & Pondmax... are aquaria brand products... usually pumps/filters etc...

They are very probably just rebagging commercial feeds.... from who knows where...

And at $69 for a 10kg bag... not very cheap either...:D

The first link suggests a feed for Barramundi, Trout etc.... at 40% protein... which seems a little low for those species...

Muzza, you are a legend. Thank you all for the help. Friendliest forum (& associated shop for that matter) that I've experienced on the net in any hobby....

Hi Yabbies

I am interested in why you are saying this? I suspect that pondmax has contributed to some recent deficiencies in my system but keen to hear your experience?

Post subject:  Re: Purchasing bulk fish pellets.

I got some sinking pellets for my yabbies from Woodvale F&L.

20kg High Protien Floating (made in australia suitable for Aquaponic Fish and Ornamental) $110

20kg Sinking Pellets suitable for Koi, Goldfish, Silver Perch $75

the SP seem to like eating of the bottom but are coming to the surface more now that they are 100mm long.
