Post subject:  Is this duckweed?

I have started some experiments with this floating plant that i found in a nearby lake. I thought it was duckweed when I started messing around with it. Now i'm thinking that it may not be duckweed at all. What do you guys think? I know there are different species of duckweed but this just seams too big, too leafy and too many stems.

Can you recommend a site where I can buy some duckweed and have it sent by airmail?

Don't think so. Doesn't look like the normal duckweed

That is what made me think that I was onto the wrong thing. I thought maybe it was another type of duckweed thought. I just looks like a normal floating plant.

There is both a "major" and "minor" type of duckweed.... most people have the "minor" type...

The "major" type is larger... and a hotter weather variety.... found in Northern Australia... which thrives in sunnier, hotter weather.. that will usually kill off the "minor" variety....
