3 or 5mm floating is preferred

Thanks in advance.

Try the Ballarat trout hatchery. They may supply or will know where you can get the stuff.

The Hatchery can be contacted on 0419 156 474 or e-mail ballarathatchery@hotmail.com.au

Was gonna say the Haymarket in Ballarat for Lauke food, but its all sinking and wont give pink flesh, so Bindys idea above is probably the go
We organised a bulk shipment via Jamie in Bendigo a while back from skrettings

BYAP shop sells the Spectra Pellet which is technically speaking a Trout pellet. Skretting market their Nova and Classic as Barramundi Pellets but looking at the ingredients there dosent appear to be much of a difference between them other than the Nova has a higher protein content for a larger pellet size, no doubt due to the Barras larger mouth. The larger Spectra Pellets also contain carotenoid pigments so that the flesh of the Trout will have the appealing orange colour.

The skretting Spectra is the best stuff, floating and solid pellets means minimal uneaten feed makes it to the bottom of the tank like the Lauke does causing water issues, and it does have that beta carotene which instantly changed the colour of the flesh in my trout last year from white to juicy pink.

Skreetings will... and Grobest will... but Ridleys... not out of QLD anyway...

I order a few bags from the Narangba Mill in Qld every year without a problem.
Their current price list even shows a 'per bag' price which is a bit higher than if you buy 500kg plus.
I just put thru an order for 7 bags today so I can guarantee you that they will definately sell you less than 10bags.
All the Growbest feed I have had over the last year has all been Chinese made so I dont think I will be buying any more of it.

Likewise... and there's a few question marks over the Indonesian made stuff as well...

There's still legal action pending from a few years back... due to mineral deficiencies in the feed.. and resulting stock deformities...

As far as Ridleys... maybe they've changed their tune in the last year or so... they point blank refused to allow an order of less than a tonne from me.... that's the reason I changed to Skreetings... :dontknow:

I'll check it out, and hit them up... although I've found that the price, service... and performance of the Skreetings feed is probably better anway...

That depends on what sized pellet you buy. Skretting in Tasmania dont make the very small feed, they bring it in from France. So by the time it goes from France to Tasmania then across to WA it works out very expensive per bag. I go through a lot of dust and small sized feed and find its cheaper to buy it from Ridleys and I would rather buy locally made (well only 4000km away) product anyway. As far as the quality goes I rate it as good as the Skretting and superior to the Growbest product.
