Does anyone grow algae for fish?

I know there was a thread that had some YouTube videos about somebody growing algae for biofuels but I can't find it.

There was a guy who took a pane of glass, covered it with screen door material and cascaded water down it. The glass was leaning back a bit (10 degree angle?) and was sitting in the sun. It grew algae pretty well, but I would recommend something other than screen door mesh since you can't guarantee it is food-safe and may leech nasties into the water/algae.

If you let sun into the FT the algae should grow quite well. If you have fish that eat algae, maybe leave the algae grow in the ft and let the fish munch it (?) ... may be an issue for some pumps though.... Duckweed seems to be another good option and you could grow it in a sump or under your GBs.
